Filby Hall

8th November 2011

All three of us at Fox and Flyte spent last weekend with friends at Filby Hall in Norfolk. We had a go at playing lords of the manor in this splendid Queen Anne house, with its panelled walls, ornate fireplaces and grand sweeping staircases. The weather outside was at points verging on the exceedingly bleak, but our trip was made all the better for it. We had the fires lit, shutters closed, and litres of red wine to keep us going through the long English November nights. Then, of course, there's nothing like waking up to a dewy Autumn morning and a few fresh eggs... We also spent a day at Holkham beach, a most glorious spot. Take a trip for the miles of dunes and sandpits and shady pinewoods. Visit the wonderful website of the nearby estate of Holkham Hall here.
